Which of these resources will you try? Have you used the graphic organizers? You could even try to measure your student's improvement in understanding and word connection before using them and after.....
Also look back in the Check It Out left column for a link to Tennessee & Marzano use of word lists by grade level.

APPENDIX B: Quotations for Word Lovers
I really like the quotes that are in the back of the book. I plan on incorporating some of them at the bottom of newsletters home to parents. I have always been a fan of adding a quote or two just for fun!
APPENDIX C: Word Games in the Classroom
I have a book case full of games that my students can play during the last few minutes of class, if they ride late buses, during inside recess or during free time if there is any through out the day. I would have never thought of some of the games that are listed in the book! Charades and pictionary would be a new and more interesting way of learning vocabulary words!! I plan on using these games to spice up the lesson.
Appendix E
I think Appendix E is my favorite part of the entire book. I am always looking for new forms or layouts to keep the students interested in vocabulary or other curriculums. Another thing that is great, a good majority of these can be used for any subject! Some of my favorites that I will definately be using in a few weeks include:
E.3: How Well Do I Know These Words?
E.5: From the New to the Known
E.8: Making Connections
E.10: Knowledge Chart
E.12: Context, Content, Experience
E.14: Part to Whole
E.17: Word Questioning
E.22: Word Jars
This book has been a great resource for me and has really made me think outside the box as I begin to really prepare for this year. Some of the ideas or materials presented in the book will go great along with my school's curriculum! I look forward to the school year and the challenge I have set myself... I truely believe that students will only use the vocabulary if they hear it on a regular basis.

I really liked the Appendix C Word Games in the Classroom. I have asked for donations for classroom games in the past. This list will help when I ask again.
I created a classroom poster with Appendix D. I have some activities planned to use the different suffixes and prefixes with my students.
I have already started planning uses with the activities in Appendix E. E.3 How Well Do I Know These Words? is perfect for science. It will give me the chance to gain insight into my students' prior knowledge and allow me to better direct the lesson. E.6 Concept Attainment will work very well with my culture lesson in Social Studies. I intend to use some of the other sheets throughout the year.
I think that my entusiasm will help to spark the students interest in vocabulary. It is great to have other options when teaching vocabulary, and this book has provided me with many. I have enjoyed reading this book.
